World Class Aftercare | The Treatment is Just The Beginning

Did you know that there is currently no legal requirement for practitioners to have any qualifications when administering non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as botox and fillers? This could mean that someone with very little to no training could be administering injections to unsuspecting patients, putting them at risk of complications such as burning, scarring, infection, facial paralysis and blindness.

In addition to their lack of qualifications, untrained practitioners often purchase cheap, unlicensed products over the internet which can have incredibly harmful and long lasting effects. Over 1,300 people were victims of nasty complications following aesthetic fillers between 2018-19, showing there needs to be regulation in place when it comes to cosmetic treatments.

In fact, up until April 2021, there was no regulation surrounding cosmetic surgery for those under the age of 18 and, unfortunately, there are a number of unscrupulous people posing as trained professionals attempting to lure in clients with cheap prices, which is especially appealing to young people in particular. In these cases, the practitioners are often negligent and unethical, posing great threats of infection and long lasting damage or a ‘botched’ appearance in the least.

Whilst it remains that there is very little regulation in place, it’s absolutely essential that you take the right precautions to ensure you avoid these unprofessional and dangerous clinics to ensure you receive a safe and high quality treatment.

Do Your Research

Don’t just go for the first place you see. Make sure to do your research into a range of different clinics to be sure you find the perfect one. This includes taking a look at their website, their reviews and social media pages.

It’s also wise to be weary of fake reviews. If there are multiple reviews made on the same day from accounts with no profile pictures and unnatural reading comments, they are likely fake. For example, if an anonymous account has reviewed an aesthetics clinic and left the comment “Excellent. Great product.”, we can guess that this is a fake review.

We would also recommend looking at the gallery or results photos of different clinics online so you can be sure they can actually deliver the results you really desire, though be wary that some clinics may be using fake or stolen images, so check that there are no watermarks from other companies, that the photos are of the same person and that they’re all taken in a somewhat similar style.

Too Good to Be True?

We’ve all heard the phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ or ‘if it seems too good to be true, it usually is’ and these couldn’t be more accurate when it comes to the aesthetics industry. As we mentioned previously, there are a number of undtrainted individuals out there who are posing as trained professionals, luring clients in with great deals and incredibly cheap prices.

Whilst it can be tempting to take a great offer on the cost of cosmetic treatments, make sure you aren’t prioritising the price over your safety. If a deal seems too good to be true, make sure you really do your research into them beforehand.
